Meet Bobi The World’s Oldest Dog

Bobi, the oldest dog in the world, celebrated his 31st birthday in a village located in central Portugal on May 13. According to Guinness World Records, Bobi is officially recognized as the world’s oldest dog.

The birthday party took place in Conqueiros, a Portuguese village where Bobi has resided his entire life. Owner Leonel Costa shared that over 100 people attended the party, which followed a “very traditional” Portuguese theme. The celebration featured local meats, fish, and a special menu for Bobi, who exclusively eats human food.

In addition, a dance troupe performed, and Bobi even participated in one of their routines. Costa attributes Bobi’s remarkable longevity to the serene and tranquil environment in which he lives.

Bobi’s birthdate has been officially confirmed by the Veterinary Medical Service of the Municipality of Leiria, who registered him in 1992. Furthermore, Bobi’s age has been verified by a government-approved pet database.

For Costa, now 38 years old, Bobi serves as a living connection to the past, as he has known Bobi since his own childhood when the dog was born.
